ODE2Yearning

A place to sit with emotion, memory, and the quiet ache of being a human.

Nikon FA ; Portra 400 : San Diego, CA, 2022

There is quite an ache in yearning, a stretch of the soul towards something out of reach. It’s not always for a person, sometimes it’s a version of ourselves we’ve never met. Maybe a place we’ve never been but somehow miss.

Yearning lives in the in-between: the want, the not-yet, the almost, what could’ve been. It’s a feeling so full it hollows you out.

And beneath it all is a deeper desire… to be seen. Not just looked at, but understood. To have someone witness your wanting, and actually allow you to take them fully in. Yet there is a strange comfort in the ache of yearning and the desire of wanting someone or something. It reminds me I’m alive, still full of desire, still open, still here.

As the creator of this series, this isn’t just random topic chosen out of a hat… This is a feeling I have felt once before in my past, and possibly still feel. I invite you: the reader, to try to remember the last time you felt this feeling of yearning. Or even if you still feel this way, I would love to hear about.

Whether its a whisper of what’s been weighing on you, or even something you’ve never said out loud… Just know that this is a space where your truth is cared for, and always seen with care.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I did creating it. With love, I present you the first series of this beautiful journey.

Welcome to ODE. Tune In…

There is a hollow feeling in my chest that can not be filled; not love, time, not even the comfort of familiar places. It’s a quiet kind of ache, carried in silence because the thought of putting it in words feels all too vulnerable. This is a feeling I have never shared with anybody.. but here I am sharing with you. Often times I find difficulty sharing with others. There is an ease to share when others do first, it’s a sense of comfort, knowing that if both of our walls are down there will be no betrayal. I hope to create that feeling of ease, to let your walls down, expose all your cards with no fear…

This first series is about the people we lose but never stop feeling, the moments we replay until they fray at the edges, and the way longing can live inside you like a second heartbeat. I welcome each and everyone of you to this space I have created.

I hope you enjoy.
